Studio setup guides I already have a Studio

Connect Maxisnap to your Studio

Your Studio is already running, on your web hosting or in a Cloudflare account. To make it your upload destination, Maxisnap needs two things: the Studio’s address and a key. You test the connection in Maxisnap before you save it.

Best for
Anyone whose Studio is already online: set up earlier, by a colleague, by a web developer or by an AI assistant.
You need
Your Studio’s address and a key: the Admin key from setup, or an upload code from People & access in your dashboard.
Time
About a minute.
You get
Every capture you upload goes to your Studio, and its share link lands on your clipboard.

Find your Studio’s address

It is the address you open your Studio dashboard at, starting with https://. It is not a share link.

  • On web hosting it usually ends in /snaps, for example https://yourcompany.com/snaps.
  • On Cloudflare it ends in workers.dev, or it is the subdomain you chose, for example https://snaps.yourcompany.com.

Find a key

  • The Admin key that setup showed you. On web hosting it is also kept in your-settings.php in the snaps folder.
  • Or an upload code: in your dashboard, open People & access and create or copy a code for yourself. Codes with the Admin, Manager, Member or Upload-only role can upload; Viewer codes cannot.

Everyone on your team can connect their own Maxisnap with their own code, so you never have to share the Admin key.

Connect Maxisnap

  • Maxisnap for Windows: open Settings → Account → Maxisnap Studio setup wizard, click “Get started”, then “Next” until step 4, “Connect Maxisnap”. Paste your Studio’s address and key, click “Test connection”, then “Next”, then “Finish & Save” on the last page. The Admin key from setup works, and so does an upload code from People & access in your dashboard.
  • Maxisnap for Mac: open Settings → Welcome & Help → Studio Setup Guide and choose “I already have a dashboard”. Paste your Studio’s address and key, click “Test Connection”, then “Next”, then “Finish & Save”.
What you’ll see Step 4 of the setup wizard, “Connect Maxisnap”: boxes for your Studio’s address and key, and a “Test connection” button.

Try it

Capture something and click “Upload” in the editor. On Windows, Ctrl+Alt+7 captures a region and uploads it straight away. The share link lands on your clipboard.

Want to go back to Maxisnap Cloud later? Choose it again as your upload destination in Maxisnap’s settings. Your Studio and everything in it stay where they are.

If something goes wrong

Maxisnap says the key is not right

Copy the key again, without spaces before or after it. If the key belongs to a person in People & access, check that the code has not been turned off or replaced.

Maxisnap finds no Studio at that address

Check the folder part of the address. A Studio on web hosting is usually at https://yourcompany.com/snaps, and the folder name must match the one on your hosting. Open the address in your browser: you should see your Studio’s sign-in page.

Maxisnap says the address redirects

Open the address in your browser. Once your Studio’s sign-in page shows, copy the address from the address bar and use that one.

Your Studio does not answer in time, or cannot be reached

Check that your website is online and that the address starts with https://. A certificate problem on your hosting stops the connection too; your hosting company can renew the certificate. A Cloudflare Studio that was created minutes ago may need a few more minutes before it answers.

Maxisnap says this key cannot upload

Viewer codes can look at the library but not upload. Use the Admin key, or create a code with the Member or Upload-only role under People & access in your dashboard.

An upload code doesn’t open the dashboard

That code is for uploading only — it doesn’t open the dashboard. Ask your admin for a dashboard code.

That is how Upload-only codes work: they let Maxisnap upload but don’t sign anyone in. Sign in to the dashboard with the Admin key or with a code that has a dashboard role.

Your Studio says there were too many attempts

Too many attempts. Please wait a few minutes and try again.

After several wrong keys, Studio refuses further attempts from your network for a while. Wait about 15 minutes, then try again with the right key.

The test works in the browser but uploads fail

If your Studio is on a subdomain behind Cloudflare, a security setting such as Cloudflare Access, a WAF rule or Bot Fight Mode may be stopping Maxisnap. Ask the person who looks after your Cloudflare to let the Studio address through.

Large videos fail on a Cloudflare Studio

Maxisnap for Windows and Maxisnap for Mac send each upload to a Cloudflare Studio in one request, which it accepts up to 25 MB per file.

Still need help?

Email us and a person will write back, usually within one business day. These details help us answer in one go:

  • The setup option you chose and the step you are on.
  • A screenshot of the screen, with any error message in full.
  • Where your Studio is going: a new or existing Cloudflare account, or the name of your web hosting company.
  • Your Maxisnap version: on Windows in Settings, then About; on a Mac under Maxisnap, then About Maxisnap.

Please don’t send your Admin key, a Cloudflare key or a password. We don’t need them to help you.
