All the power.
None of the options-menu maze.
Three hotkeys. One preferences dialog. The same SFTP, S3, and cloud upload destinations — minus the 47-branch workflow tree.
Maxisnap is a simpler ShareX alternative for Windows and Mac. It covers the same core workflow — region capture, full-screen, hotkey-driven upload — but with sensible defaults that work in ten seconds instead of a settings tree that takes an afternoon to explore. And unlike ShareX, there's a real Mac build.
Three hotkeys vs 47 menus

The power is real. The floor is high.

Hotkey works out of the box. SFTP, S3, cloud — optional, one tab away when you need them.

ShareX questions
Why is ShareX so complicated?
It's designed as a power-user toolkit. Every capture mode, workflow, and destination is exposed. This is great if you want total control and painful if you just want to press a hotkey. Maxisnap chose the simpler tradeoff.
Is there a Mac version of ShareX?
No, and the project has confirmed no plans to port. The codebase depends on Windows APIs. Maxisnap ships Mac and Windows builds from the same feature set.
Does Maxisnap have the same power as ShareX?
For the core capture-annotate-upload loop, yes. ShareX adds niche extras — OCR, color picker, image effects, 90+ uploaders. If those are daily-use, ShareX wins there. Otherwise, the simpler flow wins on everyday speed.
Can I migrate my ShareX workflow?
Server credentials (SFTP, FTP, S3) copy over cleanly. Custom uploader configs don't auto-import, but the three major destinations are native in Maxisnap's Upload tab.
Is ShareX a virus?
No. Some heuristic antivirus flags it because of how hotkey-capture and auto-upload behave — the same pattern any legitimate screenshot tool triggers. Both are safe.
Simpler. Faster. On Mac too.
Install Maxisnap and skip the settings tree.
