For Lightshot users who want control

Same 1-second capture flow.
Your own upload destination.

Lightshot uploads to prnt.sc by default — a public host with enumerable URLs. Maxisnap lets you pick your SFTP, your S3 bucket, or our cloud.

Maxisnap is a privacy-respecting Lightshot alternative for Windows and Mac. It preserves the fast region-select workflow Lightshot users rely on, adds full hotkey remapping, and crucially lets you pick your own upload destination — your SFTP server, your S3 or R2 bucket, or the Maxisnap Cloud — instead of forcing every screenshot onto a public enumerable host.

Your own SFTP

Upload to any server you can reach over SSH. RSA, Ed25519, and ECDSA keys all supported. Files live under your domain, on disks you control.

02

Your own S3 / R2

Point Maxisnap at an AWS S3 bucket, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, or any S3-compatible endpoint. Custom domains, custom cache headers, your ACLs.

Most flexible
03

Maxisnap Cloud

Built-in shared host with clean landing pages. Free tier: 100 uploads/month. Pro: $4/mo unlimited. No enumerable URL trick.

Lightshot questions

Is Lightshot safe?

Screenshots uploaded to prnt.sc by default are publicly enumerable — strangers have been known to browse sequential URLs. If you ever capture anything sensitive, accidental exposure is a real risk. A tool that lets you control the upload destination is safer.

Where does Lightshot store my screenshots?

By default, on prnt.sc — a shared public host. The free version doesn't offer self-hosted destinations. Maxisnap gives you SFTP, S3, or the Maxisnap Cloud on the free tier.

Does Maxisnap have a Mac version?

Yes — macOS 12+. Hotkeys are Cmd+Opt+5/6/7. Signing and notarization are in progress, so early macOS users may need to allow the app in Gatekeeper once on first launch.

Can I change Lightshot hotkeys?

Lightshot's remapping is limited. Maxisnap gives you full customization from Settings → Hotkeys for all three capture shortcuts, and the hotkeys you set show up everywhere they're referenced in the app.

What happens to my existing Lightshot links?

They keep working — Lightshot's servers don't know you switched. If you want to clean up old uploads, do it through your Lightshot account before moving on.

Own your captures. Own your uploads.
