Capture design references
like you capture inspiration.

Pixel-accurate screenshots at native Retina resolution. One hotkey. Straight into Figma.

v2.1.9 · Lossless PNG · 2x / 3x / 4x display aware

Maxisnap is a pixel-accurate screenshot tool for UI and product designers. It preserves true color, captures at native display resolution, lets you crop to the pixel, and copies directly to your clipboard as lossless PNG — ready to paste into Figma, Sketch, or any design app without compression artifacts.

In the Figma workflow

Four keystrokes from real-world to frame.

01

Capture

Ctrl+Alt+5 draws a selection at native display density. Zoom is live so you can snap to a 1px border.

02

Annotate

Numbered pins, arrows, blur, and bold callouts if the capture is heading to Slack instead of Figma.

03

Copy

Ctrl+C copies lossless PNG to the clipboard with the sRGB color profile preserved.

04

Paste

Ctrl+V into Figma. Arrives as an image layer at exact capture dimensions — no resampling, no visual drift.

What designers actually need

The craft details that matter

Native resolution, always

Screenshots on a 2x display save at 2x. A 400 x 300 region becomes an 800 x 600 PNG. Nothing resampled, nothing blurred when you drop it into a Figma frame.

Crop to the pixel

The region overlay shows live dimensions as you drag. Release, then arrow-key nudge one pixel at a time before confirming. Shift to constrain to a square.

Clipboard-first, not file-first

Every capture auto-copies to the clipboard by default. No save-as dialog between you and Figma. Optional: save a local PNG at the same time for version control.

Frequently asked

Questions designers ask

Does Maxisnap capture at native Retina/2x resolution?

Yes. Maxisnap reads the display's native pixel density and captures at full 2x or 3x. A 400 x 300 region on a Retina display saves as an 800 x 600 PNG with no resampling.

Can I copy a screenshot directly into Figma?

Yes. Every capture is placed on the system clipboard as a PNG. Click into a Figma canvas and press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V) — the screenshot pastes as an image layer at native dimensions. Same for Sketch, Adobe XD, and Framer.

Does Maxisnap compress PNGs?

No. PNG output is fully lossless. The sRGB color profile is preserved and pixel data is never re-encoded. If you switch to JPEG you get a quality slider, but PNG is bit-for-bit identical to the source framebuffer.

Can I capture exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. The region overlay shows live w x h coordinates as you drag. You can nudge edges one pixel at a time with the arrow keys before confirming, or hold Shift to constrain to a square.

Does it pick exact HEX colors from a screenshot?

Zoomed region selection lets you read RGB values pixel-by-pixel during capture. Accurate enough for verifying production builds against Figma tokens. A dedicated color-picker panel is on the v2.2 roadmap.
