Settings overview
Open Settings from the tray menu or the hamburger menu inside the editor.
General
- Save directory
- The folder where Maxisnap saves screenshot files. Defaults to your Desktop. Click Browse to change it.
- Image format
- PNG (lossless, larger files) or JPEG (compressed, smaller). PNG is recommended for screenshots with text or UI elements.
- JPEG quality
- Only shown when JPEG is selected. Higher values = better quality + larger files. 85–92 is a good default.
- Auto-copy screenshot to clipboard
- When on, the raw screenshot is automatically copied to your clipboard when the editor opens — before you annotate. Useful for quick paste workflows.
- Auto-copy URL after upload
- When on, the shared URL is automatically copied to your clipboard after a successful upload.
- Show notifications
- Enable or disable system tray toast notifications for upload success/failure.
- Start minimized
- Launch Maxisnap in the background (tray only) instead of opening a window on startup.
- Check for updates
- Maxisnap checks for a newer version on startup. Disable if you prefer to update manually.
Upload
- Maxisnap Cloud (built-in)
- The default upload destination. Screenshots are stored on Maxisnap's servers and you get a shareable link. No configuration needed.
- Custom server
- Add your own FTP, SFTP, S3/R2, or HTTP endpoint. Click "+" to configure. You can have multiple servers and switch between them.
- Active server
- The server that the Upload button and Ctrl+Alt+7 will use. Select from your configured servers in the dropdown.
Hotkeys
- Region capture
- Default: Ctrl+Alt+5. Works system-wide even when Maxisnap is minimized to the tray.
- Full screen capture
- Default: Ctrl+Alt+6.
- Region + upload
- Default: Ctrl+Alt+7. Captures a region and auto-uploads after you click Upload in the editor.
- Rebinding
- Click any hotkey field and press your desired key combination. Maxisnap will register the new combination immediately after you save.
Account
- License key
- Enter your Pro or Business license key here. Your tier is verified against the Maxisnap servers and cached for offline use.
- License tier
- Shows your current tier: Free, Pro, Business, or Enterprise.
